International Spine Center
International Spine Center – At the Spine Diseases Center of the Marin Med Polyclinic, you can schedule an examination and get a complete insight into the condition of your spine, answers to questions about the cause of the disease, and thus a recommendation for therapy.
If the root of a nerve is affected at the exit of the spine, the pain can spread to the area that innervates that root, and there may be a violation of the muscular strength of sensations and reflexes.
Some of the common causes of painful spine: Herniated disc, Compressive fracture, Stenosis of the spinal canal, Osteoarthritis, Spondylolisthesis.
In other disorders, there are no major specific changes, or the findings appear to be minimal such as disc protrusion or degeneration and patients have major discomfort or back pain, especially of a mechanical nature, is often multifactorial. Therefore, understanding the cause or group of causes is essential to understanding a spine problem.
Deep understanding of the causes of pain and treatment options is essential for a successful cure and ultimately a satisfied patient.
In our center we apply a gradual – cascading approach to treatment – if possible, the patient begins with a minimal procedure such as TFESI or facet block where a very thin catheter without the need for anesthesia reduces or eliminates pain, and also confirms the diagnosis. It is possible to intervene on the painful disc with the energy of the Disc-FX method also in local anesthesia. In advanced cases, it is advisable to either endoscopically remove the herniated disc or use a microscope – microdiscectomy. Severe stenosis – ossification of the spinal canal requires decompression surgery, and spinal instability leads us to various stabilization operations – fusion.
